Srinagar, Aug 21 (JKNS): Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul has assured the Dalgate cricket fraternity of strengthening basic infrastructure at the sporting venue, including fencing, bathroom and seating facilities, besides installing lighting arrangements to facilitate cricket matches during night hours at TRC Ground in Srinagar.

A delegation of the cricket fraternity from Dalgate, led by Firdous Bazaz and Javed Ahmad along with other team members, called on Nuzhat Gul and apprised her of the challenges faced by local cricketers while appreciating the Sports Council’s efforts towards promoting sports and supporting budding talent in Jammu & Kashmir.

The delegation discussed various issues concerning local cricket, including the need for improved infrastructure, regular tournaments and greater opportunities for young players to showcase their talent at higher levels.

The members appreciated the Secretary and the Sports Council for providing platforms to budding sportspersons from J&K, including opportunities that have enabled talented players to participate in national and international events.

They said such initiatives were helping young athletes move beyond limited local opportunities and gain the exposure and confidence required to pursue sports professionally.

The delegation also highlighted the importance of engaging youth through sports and described the transition from “drugs to stadiums” as an important step towards building a healthier and more empowered generation.

During the interaction, upcoming cricket tournaments and other sporting events were also discussed, with the delegation saying that increasing competitive opportunities would encourage more youngsters to participate and develop their skills.

Nuzhat Gul assured the delegation that the Sports Council would continue supporting local sporting communities and work towards addressing their genuine infrastructure requirements. She specifically assured that fencing, bathrooms, seating arrangements and functional lighting for night cricket would be taken up to improve facilities for players and spectators.
