Srinagar, Aug 29 (JKNS): The 132 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), in collaboration with Secure Path, a civil society organisation, and Shining Star Public High School, organised a one-day drug awareness and prevention programme at the Old Court Complex, Court Road, Lal Chowk, Srinagar, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The programme was organised as part of the third phase of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, with the objective of sensitising youth and the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging collective efforts towards building a drug-free society.
Around 200 participants, including school students, teachers, civilians and other members of the public, took part in the programme.
A pledge against drug abuse was also administered to the participants, who reaffirmed their commitment to staying away from drugs and promoting awareness against substance abuse.
Following the awareness programme, a drug-awareness rally was organised from the Old Court Complex to the Clock Tower at Lal Chowk. Participants carried awareness messages and raised slogans advocating a drug-free society, spreading the message of Nasha Mukt Bharat among the public.
Pamphlets containing drug-awareness messages were also distributed among civilians during the rally.
During the programme, motivational and awareness speeches were delivered by Chief Guest Dr Deep Shekhar Mohan, CMO (SG), 132 BN CRPF, Resource Person Er. Mubashir Jan, ARTO, and S. Umar Bhat, Executive Director, Secure Path.
The speakers highlighted the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals, families and society and stressed the need for greater awareness, early intervention and active participation of youth and the community in combating the drug menace.
Certificates of participation were distributed among the participants in recognition of their involvement in the awareness programme. Refreshments were also provided to the participants.
The programme concluded with a collective call for greater public participation in the fight against drug abuse and strengthening the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat. (JKNS)
