Shopian, September 2: In a strong action against corruption and misconduct, the District Collector, Shopian Mr. Shishir Gupta IAS, has dismissed Lambardar Tachloo, Hujat-ul-Islam, from service on the recommendation of the Tehsildar, Shopian.

The action follows an inquiry into allegations that the Lambardar had demanded ₹3 lakh from a complainant. During the inquiry conducted by the Naib Tehsildar, the Lambardar reportedly admitted to the demand, while call recordings produced during the proceedings were also taken on record.

Taking serious note of the conduct, the District Collector observed that it constituted a grave breach of duty and undermined the credibility and sanctity of the Lambardar’s official position.

The dismissal has been ordered under Rule 9 of the Jammu and Kashmir Lambardari Rules, 1980, with effect from the date of his suspension.

The Tehsildar Shopian has further been directed to assign additional charge of Lambardar Tachloo to Nawaz Ahmad Dar, Lambardar Kumdalan, and initiate the process for appointment of a new Lambardar as per the applicable rules.

The action underscores the administration’s zero-tolerance approach towards corruption and misconduct at the grassroots level.
