Sopore, September 5: Government Higher Secondary School Dangerpora, Zaingair, celebrated Teachers’ Day in a unique and memorable manner by honouring and bringing together retired professors, lecturers, teachers and eminent educationists who devoted decades of their lives to the field of education.
On the occasion, the Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Dangerpora, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, invited former educators and nation builders associated with the education sector, recognising their invaluable contribution towards shaping generations of students.
The programme stood apart from the usual Teachers’ Day celebrations as it paid tribute to those teachers and educationists who served during an era when modern digital gadgets and advanced educational facilities were not available.
Despite limited resources, these dedicated teachers continued to impart knowledge and played a vital role in producing doctors, scientists, engineers, professors, teachers, lawyers, journalists and other professionals who continue to contribute to society.
The speakers highlighted that the contribution and sacrifices of these veteran educators would always be remembered, as they laid the foundation for generations and played an important role in nation-building.
A significant highlight of the programme was the generous contribution of Rs. 1.20 lakh towards the installation of an RO Water Purifier for the benefit of the students of Government Higher Secondary School Dangerpora.
The contribution was made by prominent members of the Sopore fruit trade fraternity, including Patron of Sopore Fruit Traders, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Tabtry, and Mr. Latief Ahmad Ganie of Shaan Apples, Fruit Mandi, Sopore. Their generous initiative for the welfare and benefit of students was widely appreciated by the school administration and participants.
Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Dangerpora, Mr. Abdul Salam Dar, was also present on the occasion. The programme was attended by the staff members of Government Higher Secondary School Dangerpora, along with a large number of students.
Among the retired educationists and dignitaries who were present on the beautiful occasion were Prof. G. M. Kawa, Abdul Gani Kar, Abdul Khaliq, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Abdul Ahad, Mohammad Ashraf, Mushtaq Ahmad, Abdul Rasheed, Bashir Ahmad, along with several other respected retired professors, lecturers, teachers, educationists and dignitaries.
The gathering served as a heartfelt tribute to the teaching fraternity and recognised the lifelong contribution of retired educators who dedicated their careers to enlightening young minds and strengthening society through education.
