Sopore, Sept (JKNS): Sopore Police has seized a load carrier carrying approximately 200 litres of diesel without valid documents and arrested two persons in connection with the case.
During naka checking at Chijhama, Rafiabad, in the jurisdiction of Police Post Watergam, a Tata Load Carrier bearing Registration No. JK16A-5144 was intercepted and subjected to checking.
During inspection, approximately 200 litres of diesel was found loaded in the vehicle. The two persons travelling in the vehicle, identified as Showkat Ahmad Tantray S/O Ghulam Rasool Tantray and Mohammad Dilawar Beigh S/O Farooq Ahmad Beigh, both residents of Dangerpora, Sopore, failed to produce valid documents or lawful authorisation regarding its possession and transportation.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the diesel was prima facie intended for unauthorised sale for wrongful gain.
Accordingly, FIR No. 86/2026 under Sections 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha.
Both accused persons have been arrested, and the vehicle along with the diesel has been seized in accordance with law.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source, intended destination and other linkages involved. (JKNS)
