Budgam, September 13, The Anti-Drug Taekwondo Championship 2026, organised by Al-Jawad Sports Academy, was held at Shah Hamdan Education Institute, Khomani Chowk, Budgam, with students from various schools participating enthusiastically.
The championship aimed to promote sports, discipline, physical fitness and awareness against drug abuse among the younger generation. The programme encouraged students and youth to stay away from drugs and other harmful substances and adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle.
PDP Youth President Tahir Lone attended the event as the chief guest, while PDP leader Zuhaib Yousuf and the Principal of Shah Hamdan Education Institute were also present.
The guests interacted with students from different schools and appreciated the efforts of Al-Jawad Sports Academy in providing a positive platform for youth through sports.
Speaking on the occasion, Tahir Lone highlighted the important role of sports in keeping young people physically and mentally healthy. He said participation in sports helps develop discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, determination and leadership qualities among students.
He said sports can play an important role in keeping youth away from drug abuse and other social evils. He urged parents, educational institutions, sports organisations and other sections of society to provide maximum opportunities for young people to participate in sports and other positive activities.
Tahir Lone encouraged the participating students and stressed the need to identify, nurture and provide suitable platforms to young talent. He urged the players to continue their sporting journey with hard work, dedication and discipline.
Zuhaib Yousuf also appreciated the participation of students from different schools and lauded Al-Jawad Sports Academy for organising the championship with a strong anti-drug message. He stressed the need to organise more awareness programmes and sporting activities in the future to engage youth in positive pursuits.
Students from various schools participated in different Taekwondo competitions and showcased their skills, confidence and sporting spirit. During the competitions, they also demonstrated the importance of discipline, sportsmanship and mutual respect.
At the conclusion of the championship, medals and certificates were distributed among the winners and participating students in recognition of their performance and participation. The players were congratulated and encouraged to continue working hard for greater achievements in the field of sports.
The organisers said Al-Jawad Sports Academy would continue organising such programmes in the future to promote sporting talent among youth and spread awareness against drug abuse.
