Machil, Sept 13 (JKNS): The border valley of Machil in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district witnessed an exciting day of cricket as the Machil Premier League 2026 concluded with grand finals in both the Men’s and Women’s categories.
In the Women’s Final, the champions posted a commanding 213 for 4, before restricting BHSS Ring Payeen to 99 for 5 in 15 overs, securing a convincing 114-run victory.
In the Men’s Final, Sheikh 11 Dudi scored 116 runs, setting a target of 117 for 11 Brothers Dapal. Chasing confidently, 11 Brothers Dapal reached the target in just 11.2 overs to lift the MPL 2026 trophy.
This year’s tournament featured 58 men’s teams and 14 women’s teams, providing a major platform for local talent to compete, learn and gain valuable exposure alongside teams from outside the valley.
Beyond cricket, the league also aimed to promote border tourism, empower local youth and showcase the sporting potential of Machil Valley.
The grand finals were witnessed by a large gathering of local residents along with Indian Army officials, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, sportsmanship and community participation.
