Srinagar, Sept 14 (JKNS): Shopian Police has arrested two alleged drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered heroin-like and charas-like substances from their possession, as part of its ongoing drive against drug abuse in the district.
As per news agency JKNS, Police has arrested two drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
During routine naka checking at Kiloora Crossing, a police party from Police Station Imamsahib noticed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him.
During his personal search, approximately 1.210 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Murshid Ahmad Malik son of Gh Mohd Malik resident of Krawoora Imamsahib. Accordingly, FIR No. 64/2026, under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Imamsahib and investigation has been taken up to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the larger drug network involved.
In another action, a police party from Police Station Zainapora during routine naka checking at Babapora Zainapora crossing, tactfully apprehended a person. During his search, approximately 18 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Muneeb Ahmad Thoker son of Late Shamem Ahmad Thoker resident of Beibagh Yaripora Kulgam. In this connection, FIR No. 120/2026 under the relevant provisions of law, has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the contraband and establish the forward and backward linkages.
