Srinagar, Sep 15 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday hit back at the BJP’s criticism of his government over the duration of the upcoming Assembly session, saying the party cannot accuse the government of being “non-serious” while its members are hardly seen in Parliament.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, as per news agency JKNS, Omar said there was nothing “non-serious” about holding a seven-day Assembly session.

“It would have been non-serious if we had followed the path shown by the BJP, where they have held one or two-day sessions in their states,” he said.

Omar said members of his government remain present in the Assembly throughout the day.

“We sit in the Assembly from morning and leave in the evening. There is no such day when we ourselves are not present in the Assembly,” he said.

“Whether anyone else blames it or not, the BJP cannot blame it. Look at the Parliament. Look at who sits for how long. Then you tell me who is taking it seriously and who is not,” Omar added.

Responding to repeated statements against his government, the Chief Minister said he would not react to every comment on a daily basis.

“These are their statements every day. Don’t expect me to answer every statement. You said it today, now I will react to the next statement after a month,” he said.

Omar said he would respond to one such statement every month rather than reacting to every statement. (JKNS)
