Srinagar, Sept 15 (JKNS): Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH), Sempora, on Tuesday organised a free multi-speciality medical camp at SSM College of Engineering, Parihaspora, Pattan, which was attended by students and residents of adjoining areas.

The camp was attended by students, patients and residents from Parihaspora, Pattan, Singpora, Narbal and adjoining villages, who availed free consultations and medical services from teams of senior doctors. Patients were also provided free medicines.

The camp was organised as part of KMCH’s community outreach programme and by the overall supervision and guidance of Insha Qazi, Executive Director, KMCH Sempora.

OPD services were offered across multiple specialties, including Psychiatry, ENT, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, General Surgery, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, General Medicine and Orthopaedics.

The camp also placed special emphasis on mental health awareness among students and the importance of timely professional support for those experiencing stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health concerns.

“Student mental health remains an important area of concern, and such outreach programmes provide an opportunity to identify mental health issues at an early stage and encourage students to seek professional help without hesitation,” said Insha Qazi, Executive Director, KMCH Sempora.

“Healthcare should not remain confined to hospital premises. Through such initiatives, we aim to take specialised medical services closer to communities and ensure that people have access to quality healthcare and timely medical advice,” she added.

Qazi said that community outreach was an important part of KMCH’s efforts to promote preventive healthcare and create greater awareness about health-related issues.

“We endeavor to build stronger connections with communities through regular health camps, awareness programmes and accessible medical services. We will continue to expand these initiatives to reach people in different areas of Kashmir,” she said.

The super specialists interacted with students and local residents and sensitised them about common mental health conditions, stress management, depression, anxiety disorders and the importance of seeking professional help when required.

Residents and civil society members appreciated the initiative and urged the institution to continue organising such camps in different localities for the benefit of the public.

KMCH reiterated its commitment to promoting mental well-being and ensuring that quality healthcare services reach people at their doorsteps. The hospital said more such outreach camps and awareness programmes would be organised in the future to improve access to specialised healthcare and strengthen community health services across Kashmir.
