Srinagar, September 16: President of the Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimeen Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi, has expressed deep concern over reports of a drone being intercepted in the vicinity of the holy city of Makkah, stressing that the sanctity, dignity and security of Islamic holy sites must remain inviolable under all circumstances.
Aga Syed Hassan said Makkah and Medina constitute the shared spiritual heritage of the entire Muslim Ummah, and any action that threatens, damages or compromises their sanctity is unacceptable and must be unequivocally condemned.
He noted that Saudi authorities have attributed the incident to a Houthi drone, while the Houthis have denied targeting Makkah or any Islamic holy site. In view of the conflicting claims, Aga Syed Hassan called for restraint, responsible conduct and an impartial determination of the facts.
He cautioned that the holy cities must be protected from becoming part of military confrontations, political disputes or competing regional interests.
“The sanctity of Makkah and Medina transcends all political, sectarian and military considerations. No conflict, grievance or geopolitical objective can justify placing the holy cities, the Kaaba, pilgrims or worshippers at risk. Any genuine threat to these sacred places is a matter of grave concern for the entire Muslim world, while any deliberate attempt to associate the holy cities with a conflict for political or military purposes is equally deplorable,” he said.
The Anjuman President urged all parties in the region to exercise maximum restraint and ensure that the sanctity and security of the Haramain Sharifain remain above all other considerations.
He emphasised that the sacred status of Makkah and Medina demands collective responsibility, caution and accountability from all concerned parties.
Aga Syed Hassan also appealed to the international community and Muslim countries to undertake effective and coordinated efforts to ensure that the holy cities do not become theatres of regional confrontation.
