Srinagar, Sep 17 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has amended provisions regarding the passing of corresponding subjects in Class 11 for candidates seeking admission to Class 12 through subject change or eligibility cases.
As per a notification issued by the Academic Division of JKBOSE, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that, it shall henceforth not be mandatory for such candidates to pass corresponding subjects in Class 11, subject to fulfilment of other eligibility conditions and academic requirements prescribed by the Board.
Under the amended provision, candidates migrating from other recognized Boards who have already passed Class 11 and seek admission to Class 12 in a JKBOSE-affiliated school will be permitted to seek admission without being required to pass the corresponding subject or subjects at Class 11, even if the subjects do not coincide with those offered by JKBOSE within the stream.
The notification further states that candidates already studying in Class 12 in JKBOSE-affiliated schools or institutions who change any subject within the same stream will also not be required to pass the corresponding changed subject or subjects in Class 11.
However, the change of subject must otherwise be permissible under the rules and scheme of studies prescribed by the Board.
JKBOSE clarified that the relaxation shall remain subject to fulfilment of all other eligibility conditions, admission rules, combination of subjects and other academic requirements prescribed by the Board from time to time.
The amended provision shall be applicable to all such cases from Academic Session 2025-26 onwards, the notification dated September 17, 2026, issued by Director Academics Dr. Parveen Singh, stated. (JKNS)
