Sopore, Sept 18 (JKNS): Civil Defence Baramulla, Youth Building and Peace Foundation Trust Bomai, in collaboration with Eagle English Medium Public School Bomai, Sopore, organised a one-day awareness seminar on Drug De-Addiction, Toxic Parenting and Internet Addiction at Bomai.

Dr Mir Anayat, Chief Civil Defence Baramulla, was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Principal Eagle English Medium Public School Bomai, Gh Hassan War, was the Guest of Honour.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Mir Anayat highlighted the important role of parents and teachers in shaping the behaviour, character and future of children. He spoke about effective ways of dealing with children both at home and in schools, while stressing the need for positive parenting and healthy communication.

Dr Anayat also raised awareness about the growing concerns of toxic parenting and excessive internet use, explaining their possible impact on children’s mental, social and behavioural development.

He used references from science, the Quran and Hadith to emphasise the importance of proper upbringing, discipline, affection and guidance.

He stressed that parents have a particularly important responsibility during the early years of a child’s life. “The first seven years are crucial for a child’s upbringing.

Parents must provide proper tarbiyat, values and guidance during this period so that children develop a strong foundation and are less likely to be drawn towards harmful or wrongful activities,” he said.

The seminar also focused on the dangers of drug abuse and the need for collective efforts by parents, teachers, civil society and educational institutions to protect young people from addiction and other social challenges.

Chairman Civil Society Bomai, Mohammad Ramzan Lone, along with members of the civil society, was also present on the occasion.

Teachers, parents and students participated in the programme and interacted with the speakers on issues concerning children’s upbringing, education and well-being.

The organisers stressed the need for continued awareness programmes to educate the younger generation about the consequences of drug abuse, unhealthy parenting practices and excessive internet use.
