- Shopian, September 26: The newly elected office bearers of the Bar Association Shopian on Saturday took oath of office, formally assuming charge and responsibilities following their election to various positions in the association.
Advocate Gowhar Hassan Wani was sworn in as President of the Bar Association Shopian, while Advocate Rayees Jan Ahmed Wani took oath as Vice President.
The other elected office bearers include Advocate Mohsin Hassan as General Secretary, Advocate Ishan Showkat as Treasurer and Advocate Sumaiya as Joint Secretary.
On the occasion, MLA Shopian Advocate Shabir Ahmad Kullay, Principal District and Sessions Judge Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary, Sub-Judges and Munsiff Judges, along with senior advocates and junior lawyers, were present.
The oath-taking ceremony marked the beginning of the new team’s tenure, with the elected office bearers entrusted with the responsibility of representing the interests of advocates and overseeing the functioning of the association.
The newly elected leadership is expected to work towards the welfare of the legal fraternity, strengthen coordination among advocates and take up issues concerning the legal profession and the functioning of the Bar Association.
The new team will also play a role in maintaining professional unity and facilitating cooperation among members of the legal fraternity in Shopian.
