Jammu, Sept 27 (JKNS): Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Sunday claimed that the BJP is the only party committed to restoring Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, while accusing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of “sabotaging” the process.
Speaking to reporters, as per news agency JKNS, LoP Sharma questioned the reference to the 2000 autonomy resolution in the Statehood resolution moved by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the Legislative Assembly.
“What was the need for the pre-1953 position, which he brought in a resolution in 2000?” Sharma said, referring to the autonomy resolution passed by the Assembly in 2000.
He alleged that the resolution, which he said was rejected earlier, was deliberately mentioned in the latest Statehood resolution.
“Why was it mentioned here? That means they want to sabotage, they don’t want to give statehood, but we are committed,” Sharma said.
He further asserted that the BJP government would restore Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “No matter how many conspiracies are made, the government of the Bharatiya Janata Party will give statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.”
Sharma said he could not specify a date but maintained that the BJP would restore Statehood “very soon.” (JKNS)
