Srinagar, Sept 27 (JKNS): The potable water supply in major parts of Srinagar city and adjoining areas is likely to remain affected on September 27 and 28 following a sudden reduction in discharge in the S.P Canal by the PDC authorities, officials said.
According to a public notice issued by the Executive Engineer, Water Works Division Srinagar, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that, the reduction in canal discharge has impacted the S.E Canal, affecting raw water supplies to the Water Treatment Plants at Alusteng and Rangil.
The department said the disruption is likely to affect water supply in a large number of areas across Srinagar city and adjoining localities.
The affected areas include Zakoora, Gulab Bagh, Alusteng, Khalmulla, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Busserbugh, Malla Bagh, Pandach, Buchpora, Soura, Anchar, Bohlouchpora, Zoonimar, Nowshera, Bagh-I-Ali-Mardan-Khan, Zadibal, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Rajouri Kadal, Nallahmar, Nawakadal, Bohori Kadal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Sadribal, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, parts of Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowpora, Nawab Bazar, Ganpatyar, Habba Kadal, Baghwanpora, Basant Bagh, Chota Bazar, Karan Nagar, Chattabal, Kawdara, Eidgah, Mahrajgunj, Zaina Kadal, Saidpora, Firdous Abad, parts of Batmaloo, Qamarwari and adjacent areas.
The Water Works Division has advised the general public to store sufficient water to meet their requirements during the affected period.
For complaints or grievances related to scarcity or shortage of water supply, residents have been asked to contact the PHE Provincial Control Room, which remains functional round the clock.
