Srinagar, Sept 28 (JKNS): Cluster University of Srinagar’s 7th Academic Council Meeting on Monday endorsed a series of major academic and technological initiatives, including a 24-credit programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, establishment of a High-Performance Computing Centre/AI Cell and paperless examinations for postgraduate, B.Ed. and B.Tech. programmes.
The Academic Council appreciated and endorsed the University’s concerted efforts towards academic innovation, technological advancement, research promotion, skill development and enhancement of students’ employability.
Among the major initiatives highlighted were the introduction of a 24-credit Additional Academic Programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, establishment of a High-Performance Computing Centre/AI Cell at the University’s Main Campus, and implementation of paperless examinations at the postgraduate, B.Ed. and B.Tech. levels.
These initiatives were recognised as significant milestones in the University’s endeavour to modernise its academic ecosystem and equip students with competencies relevant to the evolving demands of the job market.
The Council also approved several important academic proposals, including the draft constitution of the Abdul Ahad Azad Chair, provision of University Research Scholarships/Stipends to eligible Ph.D. scholars, and adoption of Statutes governing the B.Tech. programme.
At the outset, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Mobin, made a comprehensive presentation highlighting the major achievements and initiatives undertaken by the University during the preceding year.
These included the introduction of postgraduate programmes in AI-ML and Data Science, commencement of Ph.D. programmes, integration of Artificial Intelligence into undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, and signing of six Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing students’ skill development and industry-oriented learning.
He also highlighted the participation and achievements of both male and female students in inter-university tournaments organised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Mohammad Mobin, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Srinagar. It was attended by Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir; Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Ramshoo, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora; Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu; Prof. Nisar Ahmad Khan, Department of Economics and former Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh; and Prof. Aasim Zaffer, Professor of Computer Sciences/Registrar, AMU, Aligarh.
The meeting was further attended by Prof. Seema Naz, Dean Academic Affairs; Prof. (Dr.) Wilayat Hussain Rizvi, Registrar; Prof. Khurshid Ahmad Mir, Controller of Examinations; Principals of constituent and affiliated colleges; and Deans of various Faculties of Cluster University of Srinagar. Prof. Ranvijay Singh, Controller of Examinations, and Deans of Faculties of Cluster University of Jammu also participated in the proceedings.
The Academic Council members offered valuable suggestions and constructive feedback on various agenda items, which were duly considered and incorporated during the deliberations.
The meeting reaffirmed the University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, interdisciplinary learning, research advancement and student-centric educational reforms.
