Budgam, October 1: The organisers of the Beerwah Cup 11th Edition 2026 organised an interaction and felicitation programme in Beerwah, bringing together sports supporters, guests, educationists, social activists, media representatives, organisers and members of the local community. The programme aimed to highlight the importance of sports, youth participation in positive activities and collective community support.

 

Ajaz Ahmad, Chairman of Ajaz Khan Foundation, attended the programme as the special guest of honour. Educationist and motivational speaker Manjeet Singh Gill of PM SHRI Higher Secondary School Humhama, Budgam, representative of the Beerwah area Ghulam Hassan, social activist Muzamil Mahmood, Younis Ahmad, Alam Bande, Beerwah Cup organiser Syed Wasim, along with other guests, sports supporters and local residents, were also present.

 

During the programme, speakers emphasised the promotion of sports at the grassroots level and encouraged young people to participate actively in sporting activities. They said that sports can play an important role in developing discipline, teamwork, leadership, self-confidence and a sense of responsibility among youth.

 

The Beerwah Cup has entered its 11th edition this year and continues to provide local players with a platform to showcase their talent and participate in competitive sports. According to the organisers, the continued support of players, sports enthusiasts, local businesses, sponsors and the public has played an important role in taking the tournament forward.

 

Beerwah Cup organiser Syed Wasim, in his address, stressed the need to connect youth with sports and provide them with platforms for positive engagement. He said the primary objective of the tournament is to encourage youth participation in sports and provide them opportunities to channel their energy and talent in a constructive direction.

 

He further said that local players need opportunities to compete in a competitive environment, improve their skills and gain valuable experience. The organisers said that the Beerwah Cup has emerged as an important grassroots platform for promoting sports in the area.

 

Chairman Ajaz Khan Foundation Ajaz Ahmad also addressed the gathering and highlighted the role of sports, youth development and the media in promoting positive activities in society. He appreciated the efforts of the Beerwah Cup organisers and said that sporting activities can help connect young people with positive and constructive pursuits.

 

Ajaz Ahmad also highlighted the role of journalists and the media in bringing local sports, achievements of young players and community activities to the attention of the public. He said responsible media coverage can help highlight the efforts of young athletes and encourage them to work harder.

 

During the programme, educationist and motivational speaker Manjeet Singh Gill, associated with PM SHRI Higher Secondary School Humhama, Budgam, was presented with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his services and participation in the event. The organisers and participants appreciated his contribution to education, youth guidance and social activities.

 

Several individuals who have contributed to sports, youth engagement, anti-drug awareness and other social and community activities were also felicitated during the programme. Certificates of appreciation were presented in recognition of their contributions and participation in positive community initiatives.

 

The speakers said that promoting sports and awareness activities can encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyles and remain connected with positive activities. They stressed the need to further strengthen cooperation among educational institutions, sports organisations, civil society, the media and the local community.

 

Ghulam Hassan, representative of the Beerwah area, also addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts being made to promote sports and youth participation. He said public support and encouragement are essential for providing opportunities to local talent to move forward.

 

Social activist Muzamil Mahmood highlighted the importance of community participation in programmes concerning youth. He appreciated initiatives that provide young people with positive platforms and help connect them with sports and other constructive activities.

 

Younis Ahmad expressed gratitude to all the guests, supporters, sponsors, organisers, media representatives, players and members of the public for attending the programme. He thanked everyone for their continued support and encouragement towards the Beerwah Cup.

 

The organisers said that the objective of the Beerwah Cup 11th Edition 2026 is to further strengthen the sports culture in the area and encourage greater participation of youth in sports.
