Srinagar, Oct 4 (JKNS): General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Saturday chaired a comprehensive security review and coordination meeting in Srinagar, taking stock of inputs from key stakeholders on the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness and coordination mechanisms across Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior J&K Police officers, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and Inspector General of Police Kashmir Sujit Kumar, besides senior Army and intelligence officers, attended the meeting, as per news agency JKNS.
During the meeting, Lt Gen Sharma reviewed the assessments and inputs placed before the participants and reiterated the need for enhanced inter-agency synergy, real-time intelligence sharing and integrated coordination among all stakeholders.
He underlined that closer collaboration was essential to strengthen operational readiness, facilitate rapid response and improve the effectiveness of joint operations.
The meeting, held in the presence of representatives of formations and agencies involved in the security grid, focused on aligning operational priorities and strengthening mechanisms for sharing and acting upon actionable intelligence.
Officials said the review also examined the functioning of existing coordination mechanisms on the ground and areas where further integration could help shorten the response cycle.
The Srinagar meeting comes days after Lt Gen Sharma visited South Kashmir to review the progress of ongoing Operation KORAG and assess the security situation in the area. During the visit, he commended the formation for its synergy, dedication, perseverance and commitment to sustained counter-terror operations.
Earlier this week, the Northern Commander had also reviewed the security posture in the Akhnoor sector and directed troops to remain vigilant and combat-ready.
Saturday’s meeting formed part of a series of security reviews aimed at strengthening coordination from the field level to joint planning mechanisms.
The latest review placed particular emphasis on real-time sharing of inputs so that joint teams can respond swiftly once information is corroborated.
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir operate through a layered security grid involving the Army, J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces and intelligence agencies. Coordination mechanisms at different levels facilitate alignment of deployments, area domination and follow-up action.
The meeting focused on strengthening preparedness and enhancing the effectiveness of joint operations. No fresh incident or specific operational outcome was linked to the meeting in the official communication. (JKNS)
