Budgam, Oct 5 (JKNS): Police have arrested two persons in connection with an alleged employment fraud in Budgam, in which several job aspirants were reportedly duped through fabricated appointment letters and promises of government employment.

During a press conference at Beerwah, as per news agency JKNS, SSP Hariprasad said, the accused have been identified as Advocate Jehangir Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Ratsun, Beerwah, and Firdous Nabi, a resident of Zabgul, Beerwah, and Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir People’s Front (JKPF). Both accused are presently being questioned at Police Station Beerwah following formal complaints, he said.

According to the SSP, the accused allegedly targeted job aspirants from different parts of Budgam by issuing fabricated appointment letters and making assurances of lucrative government employment. Police are examining the complaints and the circumstances in which the alleged fraud was carried out, with the possibility of further arrests as the investigation progresses.

A key development in the investigation, the SSP said, was the recovery of an allegedly forged official communication bearing fake Ministry of Home Affairs stamps. The document purportedly carried the name of then Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and was addressed to J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat.

Police said the fabricated communication purportedly directed the appointment of ten youths from different villages of Budgam as Special Police Officers (SPOs) in the J&K Police, allegedly on the directions of the Union Ministry.

So far, three FIRs have been registered in connection with the alleged fraud, including FIR Nos. 183 and 188 at Police Station Beerwah. A Zero FIR was also registered at Police Station Beerwah and subsequently transferred to Police Station Budgam, the SSP said.

The investigation is being conducted by a police team headed by SHO Beerwah Muddasir Nazir, under the close supervision of SDPO Magam Mohd Ashrif Lissery and the overall supervision of SSP Budgam Hariprasad K.K.

Police said further arrests and legal action may follow as the investigation progresses. (JKNS)
