Srinagar, Oct 7 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday voiced concern over the forthcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Jammu and Kashmir, drawing a comparison with the delimitation exercise and saying the region had already experienced what he described as an electoral “game”.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, as per news agency JKNS, CM Omar said there was a possibility of similar developments during the SIR process.
“It is possible that it will be done in J&K as well. But we have already been victims of this game. We have not forgotten the delimitation,” he said.
Omar alleged that the purpose of the delimitation was to benefit the BJP and expressed apprehension that the same could happen during the SIR process.
“The purpose of the delimitation is to help the BJP. This will happen in the SIR as well,” he said.
However, he said the ongoing proceedings in the Supreme Court, particularly concerning Form 6, could make it difficult for people to be removed from the electoral rolls.
“But till then, I hope that the proceedings in the Supreme Court, especially regarding Form 6, I think it will be difficult for them to get people out of the voter list,” Omar said. (JKNS)
