Govt BHSS Botingoo Sopore Celebrates Annual Day After Eight-Year Gap, Unveils School Magazine ‘Shukur’ and School Tarana

Sopore, October 10: Government Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS), Botingoo, Sopore, celebrated its Annual Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, parents, teachers, educationists and members of civil society. A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the school’s annual magazine, Shukur, and its School Tarana after a gap of eight years.

The programme was graced by MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar as the Chief Guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore Dr. S. A. Raina attended as the Guest of Honour. Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Dangerpora Ab Salam Dar, Principal Higher Secondary School Dangerpora Mushtaq Sopori, Principal Higher Secondary School Bomai Ab Qayoom, and Principal BHSS Botingoo Athar Hussain Teli were among the Special Guests.

Several other dignitaries, including Prof. G. M. Kawa, Lumberdar Haji Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Haji Nisar Ahmad, principals of various educational institutions, representatives of the Traders Federation, civil society members and other officials, also attended the programme.

The Annual Day provided a platform for students to showcase their academic achievements, cultural talent, creativity and co-curricular activities. A series of cultural and educational performances, including a skit highlighting issues related to education, added vibrancy to the occasion and received appreciation from the audience.

‘Shukur’ Magazine and School Tarana Unveiled After Eight Years
One of the most significant moments of the programme was the unveiling of the school’s annual magazine, Shukur, and its School Tarana after a gap of eight years. The initiative marked an important milestone for the institution, providing students with a platform to express their ideas, literary abilities, creativity and aspirations while celebrating the school’s academic and cultural journey.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar appreciated the efforts of the school administration, teachers and students in organising the Annual Day and reviving the tradition of publishing the school magazine and presenting the School Tarana.

He reiterated that education remains a top priority and stressed the need to strengthen educational infrastructure in the present digital era. He said that funds amounting to approximately Rs. 13 lakh had already been allocated from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Capex Fund and other available sources for the development of laboratory facilities, including Physics, Chemistry and Botany labs, for the benefit of students.

The MLA also appreciated the students for presenting a skit that highlighted educational concerns, particularly the non-availability of certain subjects, including Political Science and Philosophy, at the institution.

He assured the gathering that he would take up the issue with the Education Minister and make sincere efforts to ensure that these subjects are introduced at the school, enabling students to pursue their academic interests and access better educational opportunities without unnecessary difficulties.

ADC Sopore Dr. S. A. Raina congratulated the Principal, staff members and students for organising the Annual Day successfully. He appreciated the dedication and collective efforts that contributed to making the programme a meaningful occasion.

In his address, he emphasised the importance of cooperation among educational institutions, parents, teachers and civil society in strengthening the education system. He stressed that a supportive environment and collective responsibility are essential for the academic progress, character building and overall development of students.

ZEO Dangerpora Ab Salam Dar, Prof. G. M. Kawa, Lumberdar Haji Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Haji Nisar Ahmad and other dignitaries also appreciated the school’s initiative and commended the participation of students, parents and teachers.

Principal Athar Hussain Teli Thanks Dignitaries, Highlights Students’ Achievements
Speaking to the media, Principal BHSS Botingoo Athar Hussain Teli expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and guests who participated in the Annual Day celebrations.

He particularly thanked MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar and ADC Sopore Dr. S. A. Raina for their presence and support, stating that their participation contributed to the success of the programme.

The Principal appreciated the hard work and dedication of students, teachers and staff members, saying that their efforts brought enthusiasm and vibrancy to the celebrations.

He highlighted that students of the institution had consistently performed well in examinations in recent years and expressed confidence that they would work even harder in the coming academic session to bring further laurels to the school and the entire area.

He also described the unveiling of Shukur and the School Tarana after eight years as a proud moment for the institution, reflecting its commitment to encouraging literary expression, cultural identity and the all-round development of students.

As part of the celebrations, meritorious students who had secured top positions in previous examinations were felicitated in recognition of their academic achievements.

The gesture was aimed at encouraging students to maintain their commitment to excellence and inspiring others to strive for success.

The Annual Day concluded on a positive and celebratory note, reaffirming the commitment of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Botingoo towards academic excellence, creativity, character building and the holistic development of students.

The event also strengthened the bond between the school, parents and the wider community, while marking a renewed beginning with the unveiling of the school’s annual magazine and School Tarana after eight years.
