Baramulla, Oct 22 (JKNS): Security forces on Thursday apprehended two suspected terrorist associates and recovered arms and ammunition, including a Turkish-made pistol and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), in Baramulla district.
A senior police officer confirmed to news agency JKNS that acting on credible intelligence inputs, the Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), along with Baramulla Police, apprehended the duo from the Darpura Nursery area near Delina Ghat in Baramulla.
During searches, one Turkish-made Kanik pistol, one magazine containing 10 rounds and two IEDs were recovered from their possession, officials said.
Both individuals are residents of the Chinkipura area of Sopore. Preliminary investigation suggests that they were working as overground workers (OGWs) and may have been involved in transporting weapons and explosives for terrorists, they said.
Further investigation into the matter has been initiated, officials added. (JKNS)
