Sopore, 25 October 2026:Continuing its sustained drive against drug menace, Sopore Police today during naka checking at Noorgah Sher Colony in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo intercepted an Alto Car bearing registration No. JK15B-4051 which was coming from Tarzoo towards Chankhan.
During checking, two persons on board were stopped for questioning and have been identified as:
*1. Zubair Ahmad Rather S/O Abdul Ahad Rather R/O Saderkoot Bala Bandipora*
*2. Showkat Ahmad Parray S/O Bashir Ahmad Parray R/O Ichpara Hajin Bandipora*
On their personal search, *65 grams of Charas like substance* was recovered and seized in accordance with due legal procedure.
In this regard, *FIR No. 142/2026 U/S 8/20, 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo* and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Sopore Police reiterates its commitment to eradicate drug menace from the society and appeals general public to share information regarding drug peddling for strict action.
