Srinagar, Nov 3 (JKNS): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted searches at four locations in Srinagar city in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged terror financing and suspected links with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), officials said.
An official told news agency JKNS that the investigation pertains to allegations against Umar Adil Dar, who is suspected of functioning as an Over Ground Worker (OGW) for the banned outfit and being involved in activities linked to it.
According to the official, Dar and his associates were earlier apprehended while allegedly carrying a substantial amount of cash and incriminating literature related to the banned organisation.
The official further said that Dar had previously remained in jail for around four years in connection with his alleged involvement in separatist and anti-India activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The searches are aimed at tracing suspected proceeds of crime, identifying financial networks and funding channels, examining alleged links with handlers across the border and collecting further evidence related to the suspected terror financing activities.
Further details are awaited as the searches are underway. (JKNS)
