Budgam, November 4: Social activist Advocate Naseer Ahmad Khan has appreciated the decision of Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi to resign, describing it as a significant step reflecting political principles and commitment to public interests.
Speaking to the media, Advocate Naseer Ahmad Khan said that people need to understand the significance of this decision seriously. He pointed out that while some politicians have expressed disappointment over losing ministerial portfolios, Aga Ruhullah has decided to give up his parliamentary position, privileges, protocol and other benefits in keeping with his principles and commitments made to the people.
He said that resigning from such a prestigious position is not an easy decision, particularly when it involves giving up constitutional privileges and political status. According to him, Aga Ruhullah’s decision deserves appreciation and respect.
Khan further said that Aga Ruhullah is a prominent political personality whose contributions to the National Conference and political commitment cannot be overlooked. He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by Ruhullah and his family for the party.
Referring to the political campaign and promises made to the people, Khan said that Aga Ruhullah had campaigned across Kashmir as a National Conference convener and presented a vision before the public. However, after observing that commitments made to the people had remained unfulfilled over the past two years, he felt compelled to take a strong political stand.
He added that the decision may involve personal political losses for Aga Ruhullah, but giving up his position and privileges in the context of public interests reflects his political conviction and commitment to his principles.
In conclusion, Advocate Naseer Ahmad Khan appealed to the people to understand the significance of Aga Ruhullah’s decision, respect his stand and recognise the importance of political leaders remaining committed to their principles and promises made to the public.
