Awantipora police arrests 02 notorious drug peddlers; Contraband substance recovered

Cash amount of ₹50,000 seized

January 01: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Awantipora have arrested two notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession, besides, cash amount of ₹50,000 was also seized.

Officers at a check point established at Reshipora Bunpora near irrigation gauge intercepted a vehicle Santro bearing registration No. JK03B-9591 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Gulazar Ahmad Ganie resident of Braw Bandina and Bilal Ahamd Bhat resident of Kulpora Lassipora Pulwama. During checking, officers were able to recover 2.20 kgs of Charas from their possession. Officers have also seized cash amount of ₹50,000 from them. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 01/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
