RAMBAN, JANUARY 20: IRP 16th Battalion Headquarters at Pernote, Ramban conducted a plantation drive and planted about 200 fruit bearing plants.
Saplings of Peach, Olive, Pecan nut, Pomegranate, Apricot Plum, Amlook & Pear besides, 500 trees of different species and varieties namely Cupper, Jacaranda etc were planted in the Battalion complex in the ongoing drive of fruit plants/ forest trees.
The trees were planted under the supervision of Battalion Commandant(SSP), Amit Gupta, DySP Anu Kumar and other ranks.
Majority of the plants were planted individually through the field officers/ officials who were also entrusted with responsibility for upkeep of the trees/plants planted by them. The ongoing drive is part of many steps taken by the IRP 16th Battalion in declaring their complexes as Green Zones.
