Aman was allegedly threatened to pay Rs 10 crore by a group of hackers who claimed to circulate his obscene pictures and kill him and his family members if their demands are not met in Ghaziabad.

The group of hackers had allegedly threatened Rajiv Kumar, a resident of Vasundhara Colony, that if he does not pay up the large sum of money, his obscene pictures and his family’s personal details will go viral online.

Rajiv Kumar, the victim, approached police after the accused hacked into his email account.

According to the victim, his e-mail ID was hacked by the cyber criminals on January 1. Rajiv said the hackers changed his email ID’s password and mobile number by resetting the mobile somehow. The hackers then sent him a mail and threatened him to pay Rs 10 crore. They threatened him for murder and making his obscene pictures viral for not paying the amount.

The victim said he ignored the incident of e-mail ID being hacked and the extortain mail at first. But, when the hackers reached his home, he informed the police.

The complainant has stated that the hackers are keeping a watch on the activities of the family and continuously harassing them.

A case has been registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code including criminal intimidation, insulting modesty of woman and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, and section 66D of the IT Act, Deputy Superintendent of Police Anshu Jain told PTI.

The cyber crime cell of the police are probing the case and efforts are on to nab the hackers, the DSP said.
