Farmers’ Protest Live: Farmers seek police permission for R-Day rally, say over 2 lakh tractors to be part of parade

Day after farmer unions claimed they have reached a breakthrough with the police of Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh over their proposed Republic Day tractor march, a farmer leader said they don’t need police permission for the rally. Satnam Singh Panu of Punjab Kisan Sangharsh Committee said the protesting farmers would take out the tractor rally on Delhi’s Outer Ring Road on Republic Day. The farmer leader said many other farmers are coming to Delhi for the Republic Day tractor rally.

“Many farmers are coming to Delhi for Republic Day tractor rally. We will conduct the rally on Delhi’s Outer Ring Road, it doesn’t matter whether Delhi Police gives permission or not,” Satnam Singh Panu was quoted as saying by ANI. A day before, farmers had claimed that they “were able to jointly finalise routes for the Republic Day parade“.

“We want to do a tractor rally peacefully to show govt our demands. Tractor rally will be disciplined. We will go slow. It will have an ambulance. And it will go on routes from borders,” farmer leader Satnam Singh Pannu said.
