Srinagar schools to remain open from Feb-20 for implementation, monitoring of COVID-19 SOP’s

Srinagar, Feb 09: Schools in Srinagar district will reopen from February-20 for implementation and monitoring of COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to be followed during the reopening of schools for academic activities, the government said on Tuesday.

According to the order issues by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar, Manzoor Ahmad Kumar said, a copy of which lies with the news agency the schools shall remain open for the implementation and monitoring of activities specified from February-20.

The order states that the preparations made in this context by High and Higher Secondary Schools shall be monitored by District Level Committees,” it reads.

Kumar said that the preparation for implementation of SOPs shall start from February-12 and monitoring of the same shall start soon after.

“Heads of all government and private schools shall conduct meetings with their respective staff members to discuss and frame modalities regarding preparation for opening of schools for the implementation of SOP’s issued by the government,” it reads.

The order further reads that the Zonal Education officers (ZEO’s) in Srinagar district shall conduct similar meetings with the Head of Institutions (HOI’s) of elementary schools of their respective zones.

CEO ordered the concerned authorities to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation facilities in the school.

Kumar in a SOP list said, “Arrange for thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all areas, furniture, equipment, stationery, storage places, water tanks, kitchens, canteen, washrooms, laboratories, libraries.”

He also said that we need to ensure that working hand washing facilities, availability of key supplies like thermometers, disinfectants and soaps is available in the schools
