Kashmiris students, labourers stranded in Uttrakhand, Arunachal Pradesh seek evacuation

Srinagar, April 29: Scores of students, labourers, from J&K stranded in several parts of Uttarakhand in wake of coronavirus lockdown and urged administration to evacuate them as they are facing a financial crisis.Adil Khan, a student from Dharadun told JKNS, he along with other students are stranded since the lockdown was imposed in India.“We are also running out of our resources and it is very difficult to stay back under these circumstances,” he said.Khan said these things are taking a toll on their mental health and they are also suffering from depression and anxiety.“We are around 60-70 students stranded in several cities of Uttrakhand and J&K administration should evacuate us as our families are suffering,” he said. Another stranded student, Shafat Mir stated that they have been trying to contact various helpline numbers, emails issued by J&K administration, but there was no response from their side.“J&K administration should evacuate as they are facing problems on a daily basis and financial crunch,” he said.Mir said their families have become anxious about their safety and health.“We are on the verge of breakdown now. Please evacuate us, as J&K admin evacuated other laboures and students from Himachal Pradesh, Kota, and other states,” he said.Another group of labourers stranded in Itanagar city of Arunachal Pardesh stated that they are running out of money.“Although local administration is helping them but it has been more than 30 days since he along with several laborers are stranded,” he said.“We want to come home and urge the government to evacuate us soon as possible as we are facing problems in the city,” he said. They students and laborers appealed Lt. Governor led administration and Chief Secretary to intervene and help them to evacuate to Kashmir. (JKNS)
