SHOPIAN, MARCH 04: The District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today convened a meeting of officers to review various issues pertaining to the Town here at Mini Secretariat Arhama, here.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held with regard to various issues faced by the people in the town especially traffic jam, sanitation, encroachment by street vendors, illegal parking of vehicles, installation of street lights, macadamization of roads leading to the town, marking of Zebra-Crossing and cat eyes of roads at night at various essential points of the town, installation of LED lights etc. for making the Shopian Town smart and much more beautiful.
The DDC directed Executive Engineer R&B to make sure that all the town roads are macadamized till the end of March, 2021.
He also directed Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Shopian for monitoring illegal encroachment of roads and footpaths by the street vendors so that the common public should not have to face inconvenience on this behalf and also emphasized for collection of door to door wastage.
The meeting also discussed shifting of street vendors at a suitable place and directed Tehsildar Shopian and Executive Officer Municipal Committee for identifying the place for their rehabilitation. He also directed Assistant Regional Transport Officer Shopian for visiting various places to check illegal practices by transporters including wrong parking.
The DDC stressed in the meeting that there is an urgent need for a proper waste disposal system and also segregation of solid waste management to ensure cleanliness in and around the town.
He reiterated that the beautification of the town is on priority of the District Administration for which various steps are being taken to make the town most beautiful and smart.
