March 13: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Awantipora have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers at a check point established at Galander Byepass intercepted a vehicle (Tata Nano) bearing registration number JK01P-4633 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad khan son of Ghulam Mohiuddin khan, Javid Ahmad khan son of Ghulam Mohiuddin khan both residents of resident of Ringballa Kupwara and Gazanfar Mukhtar resident of Rawalpora Sannatnagar. During checking, officers were able to recover 6Kgs of grinded Cannabis from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Pampore where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 29/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
