Srinagar, Mar 20: In order to combat Covid-19 virus, newly appointed District Development Commissioner for Srinagar city Ajaz Asadh presided a meeting in which top officials from Health Department participated.

While talking to News Agency shortly after the meeting DC Srinagar Ajaz Asadh said that there is a surge in Covid cases in Srinagar city.

“In February over 30 cases of Coronavirus were reported from Srinagar while in the ongoing month of March, a surge was witnessesed and so for 70 such cases have been reported. It is a worrisome situation for us and there is a need to take precautionary measures,” he said.

Ajaz Asadh said that if we assume that Corona is gone then we are wrong. “Corona is right here among us. There is a need to adopt a strategy. In the meeting we have decided to make use of face masks mandatory at public places, hotels, malls, buses and other places. There will be on spot fine for those who won’t wear masks and our teams will conduct on spot Covid tests as well,” he said.

In response to a question, Ajaz Asadh said Covid-19 SOPs will be strictly followed now onwards. “Infected travelers are being isolated right on the Airport. We can’t take chances,” he said
