April 03: Taking tough action against illegal mining activities, Police have arrested seven persons and seized seven tractors in Bandipora.
Officers from PS Aragam & PS Bandipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Bandipora raided Tangwani Nalla Garoora Aragam and Mahumati Nalla Bandipora and seized 7 tractors which were being used to transport raw materials illegally extracted from the nallahs. The seven drivers who were illegally extracting and transporting minerals from nallahs have been arrested and shifted to police stations where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in PS Aragam and PS Bandipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
