COVID-19 : Health Minister chairs meeting of group of ministers to discuss situation

New Delhi, Mar 25   A meeting chaired by the Union  Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan was held here on Wednesday in view of the COVID 19 situation.The meeting was held a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced complete lock-down in the coutnry for 21 days.The ministers discussed current status of the pandemic in the country and the actions taken by the states with their preparedness for the management of the situation.Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar CHoubey , Health Secretary and the Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat were also present atthe meeting chaired by the health minister.Meanwhile the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus on Wednesday crosses 550 in the country with the number at 562, according to the health ministry.The active COVID 19 cases out of these is 512 , while the government has confirmed nine deaths due to the pandemic so far in the country.The number of persons who have been cured and discharged is 40, while one person has migrated. The complete lock down announced by the PM is being observed strictly and the police is on it s toes to make sure there is no violation of the same in view of the greater public interest.
