Temperature plummets as higher reaches of Kashmir witness fresh snowfall, plains receive rains

Weatherman predicts more rains till Apr 18 afternoon

Srinagar, Apr 15: The higher reaches of Kashmir on Thursday morning experienced fresh snowfall while plains received light rains, thus bringing down the temperature across the Valley while the weatherman here predicted more light snow or rainfall in Kashmir till April 18.

Reports reaching the news agency said that Gulmarg, the world famous ski-resort and several higher reaches of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and other places received fresh snowfall today.

The incessant rains, however, lashed plains of Kashmir, resulting in a dip in the temperature.

Talking to news agnecy , deputy director meteorological department (MeT), Mukhtar Ahmad said that the wet weather conditions would continue to prevail till April 18 afternoon. “There is possibility of light snowfall in higher reaches of Kashmir and rains in plains in the next few days till April 18 afternoon,” he said.

He added that the weather would start improving from April 18 afternoon till April 20 following which another wet spell as per the forecast will be recorded in Kashmir.

“At present, we are predicting erratic weather conditions till April 22,” he said.
