Recruitment Module Case: Lashkar recruiter arrested, says NIA

Srinagar, Apr 15: National Investigating Agency (NIA) Thursday said that it has arrested one Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) recruiter from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

In a statement issued to news agency the NIA said that
today (April 15) it arrested one member of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) namely Altaf Ahmed Rather s/o Gulam Nabi r/o Bandipora, Kashmir in LeT Recruitment Module case. (RC-20/2020/NIA/DLI)

“The case relates to the arrest of Tania Parveen d/o Alamin Mondal by West Bengal Police for her association with militant organization Lashkar-eTaiba. An FIR in this regard was registered in PS Badurai, District North 24 Parganas West Bengal u/s 121A,124A,120B,419 & 420 of IPC, sections10,13,15,18,18B,20,38 & 39 of UA(P)Act and 66F of Information Technology Act. NIA had re-registered the case as RC-20/2020/NIA/DLI dated 05.04.2020 and taken over the investigation of the case. NIA had earlier filed chargesheet against arrested accused Tania Parveen,” the statement said.

It said that the investigation has revealed that accused Altaf Ahmed Rather is a school teacher in Bandipora and was a sympathiser of LeT.

“Chargesheeted accused Tania Parveen had come in contact with him over social media platforms. He was instrumental in introducing Tania Parveen to LeT members based in Pakistan, in pursuance in the conspiracy of LeT to radicalize, motivate and recruit youth for violent Jihad in India,” the statement said, adding that “further investigation in the case continues.”
