Police arrests two drug peddlers in Anantnag; Psychotropic substance recovered

April 16: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.

Officers from Police Station Anantnag at a checkpoint established at Pethbugah Dialgham intercepted one person identified as Altaf Ahmad Ganie son of Gul Mohammad Ganie resident of Shichen Dialgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 120 tablets of Alprsafe, 88 capsules of Proxwel and 45 tablets of Anxit from his possession.

In another action, police party from Police Station Anantnag during routine checking at KP road Anantnag intercepted one person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan resident of Gopalpora Mattan. During checking, officers were able to recover 18 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, 9 bottles of Welcyrex and a cash amount of ₹5500/ from his possession.

Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 93/2021 and 94/2021 respectively under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Anantnag and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
