Police arrests two drug peddlers in Budgam; Psychotropic substance recovered

April 21: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.

Officers from Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Bathaar Budgam intercepted vehicle (Innova) bearing registration number JKO1T- 3989 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmed Dar son of Mohammed Abdullah Dar resident of Humhama and Adil Manzoor Paul son of Manzoor Ahmed Paul resident of Narkara Budgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 06 bottles of Codeine, 01 drinking water bottle-01 litre filled with codeine based syrup and Alprozolam 300 tablets.

Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, case vide FIR numbers 93/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
