GANDERBAL, APRIL 24: To redress and resolve the irrigation problem faced by the people of Wahidpora Ganderbal and its adjoining areas, the DDC Chairperson Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq today conducted an extensive tour of the village and took stock of irrigation facilities being provided to farmers through the Canal.
While inspecting the canal, the locals apprised the Chairperson about problems being faced due to the dilapidated condition of the irrigation channel.
She issued on-spot directions to the concerned engineers to ensure proper upkeep of irrigation facilities up to the tail end so that the same are provided to the farming community to boost agriculture production.
She also emphasized upon concerned officers to remove all the bottlenecks to clear all the tributaries to provide the farmers sufficed irrigation water to dampen their fields.
The DDC Chairperson directed the concerned department to gear up their men and machinery to ensure sufficient water supply to the fields within the stipulated time.
The DDC Chairperson during the visit was accompanied by Executive Engineer Irrigation, Tehsildar Lar, District Officer Geology and mining and other officers and officials.
