Police arrests a drug peddler in Kulgam, Contraband substances recovered

May 02: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

Acting on reliable information regarding the presence of contraband substance in the residential house of Barkatulla Mir son of Mohammad Abdullah Mir son of Bachroo, a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the said house.  During search, officers were able to recover 15 Kgs of Poppy Straw, one Grinding Mixer, one mobile phone, and a cash amount of ₹4600 from his possession. Consequently, he has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 69/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
