Covid-19: Ganderbal administration continues efforts to reach out needy

More than 5000 ration kits distributed till now, 1000 distributed today

GANDERBAL, MAY 17: Continuing its efforts to reach out to the needy, the District administration, Ganderbal distributed free ration kits among the needy, destitute, distressed and non-local laborers stuck in the district.

To ensure that they do not face any shortage of food material during the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown, more than 1000 ration kits were today distributed in all tehsils of the district among those in need.The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal while flagging off the fleet of load carriers said that so far more than 5000 ration kits have been distributed among migrant laborers and local needy people of the district.Notably the ration kits comprising of dry rice, vegetables, aata, cooking oil and spices are provided after every 8 to 10 days among all such needy persons who are already identified by the PRIs in the district under the supervision of nodal officer nominated for the purpose.He said that in view of lockdown in the district, there are numerous people who need help and to ensure the ration kits reach the deserving beneficiaries, the District Administration has nominated nodal officer for providing food and other essentials to the needy people in the district.DC added that every possible effort is being made to provide all the basic facilities to the common masses at their doorsteps so that they do not face any difficulty during lockdown period.
