Bandipora Police arrests 02 drug peddlers; contraband substance recovered

May 15: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Bandipora have arrested two drug peddlers & recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Acting on specific information, a police party led by SDPO Sumbal and Incharge Police Post Ajas at a checkpoint established at Bazipora Ajas intercepted two individuals. They have been identified as Mubashir Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Rasool lone resident of Lone Mohalla Ajas and Showket Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh resident of Rather Mohalla Ajas. During checking, officers were able to recover huge quantity of Charas concealed in maize leaves, from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 60/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up. Preliminary investigation reveals that both the arrested accused persons are notorious drug peddlers and were involved in selling drugs to youth of the area.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
