Demands Financial Assistance (Stipends) for unemployed youth amid covid

Srinagar, 16 May: Former Legislator and National Conference Senior Leader Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar on Saturday spoke to LG Manoj Sinha and welcomed the decision taken by the Lieutenant Governor regarding special relief measures for the Covid sufferers. Jabbar while welcoming the measures taken by the Adminustratoon requested Hon’ble LG to provide financial assistance, stipends to the unemployed youths in view of the complete lock down due to the second wave, a release from the Jabbar said.

Jabbar, meanwhile, has hailed the steps taken by the government in view of the potential second wave of the pandemic. “He (Jabbar) requested for more facilities to Ganderbal District Hospital and other Hospitaks like CT Scan etc and demands availability of vaccines in the district,” the statement said.

Concerned over the plight of unemployed youths, the former MLA appealed to the LG to look into their sufferings and help them to come out of the financial crisis they are passing through amid the ongoing COVID lockdown in the Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr Jabbar said that the young people are experiencing depression due to the lockdown, citing factors such as worry about the lack of job opportunities, delay in completing their studies, family pressure and lack of privacy and isolation away from friends.

“There is an urgent need for some Financial assistance or stipends and policy for the unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir amid the COVID-19 and the Government must work in this direction to help the needy families of unemployed youth ” added Jabbar.

The Hon’ble LG appreciated the concerns of the former MLA and urged him to continue his positive endeavours and enlarge awareness about the COVID-19 panademic among the masses.

“Mr Jabbar thanked the Hon’ble LG for accepting various requests made by the him.” the statement added.
