DC Gbl briefs on achievements, preparations to combat second wave of Covid-19

197 oxygen beds, 370 oxygen cylinders, 40 oxygen concentrators available in the district

GANDERBAL, MAY 17: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna today briefed about the achievements, preparations made by the district administration to combat the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in the district.

While elaborating on preparation and facilities during the press briefing, the DC said that people need not to panic as the district administration is well prepared to meet any emergency arising due to Covid. She said that about 197 oxygen beds with 24 hour power backup are available at 3 locations besides, 175 big oxygen cylinders, 195 small oxygen cylinders and almost 40 oxygen concentrators are available within the district.

Giving details about the positive cases, Jyotsna said that presently over 1000 cases are active in the district and about 50 persons are admitted in District Hospital. Proper follow up of Positive persons under home isolation is ensured besides corona kits are also provided to these patients containing necessary medicines and do’s and don’ts pamphlet as well, she added.

Keeping in view the increasing rate of infection she maintained that the second wave of covid infection is more deadly as compared to earlier one and appealed to people of the district to strictly adopt Corona appropriate behaviour like frequent hand washing, social distance and wearing face masks which is the only way to save ourselves.

While briefing on the progress on Covid vaccination campaign, the DC revealed that 94 vaccination sites are active within the district and about 97 percent of the population over 45 years of age are vaccinated. She appealed to the  people who have not been vaccinated yet to get vaccinated at the earliest.

She further urged the public not to hide symptoms and immediately contact nearby medical practitioner or call on Covid helpline centre on 0194-2416244 for early medical intervention to save their precious life.

Regarding containment zones, Jyotsna informed that currently 39 zones are notified as containment zones in the district where all essentials are made available so that people may not suffer. She also complimented the people, police, PRI and media for their overall support and for their active role in combating the Covid infection in the district.
