DC Kulgam convenes meeting on eradication of Poppy/ Bhang cultivation

Directs for aggressive poppy destruction drives across the district

KULGAM, MAY 28: To eradicate the menace of poppy/bhang cultivation in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi Ud Din Bhat today convened a meeting of Revenue, Excise & Taxation officers and Police department at mini- Secretariat here.

The DC directed the Tehsildars and other concerned to swung into action and destroy the poppy cultivation in their respective jurisdiction.

He instructed  to start intensive and aggressive drives across the district to  destroy  poppy and Bhang and also lodge FIR against the poppy and bhang cultivators to curb this menace.

Meanwhile, at the outset of the meeting it was informed that so-far the authorities have destroyed  bhang and poppy cultivation on more than 100 Kanals  of land and besides FIRs were also  lodged against the cultivators.

The meeting was attended by, ADC, ACR, DSP HQ, ETO-South, Tehsildars and officers from Horticulture and Agriculture departments.
