Srinagar 06 June 2021. On the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’ on 5th June 2021, a plantation drive was organised by NGO Pardisan, BR Fitness Club, Sufi Studio, Department of Floriculture and supported by the Army. People from all walks of life which included about 200 youth, local ladies, children & many residents from nearby areas actively participated in the plantation drive.
The plantation drive was carried out at Amira Kadal Park, adjacent to Lal Chowk, Clock Tower, between 10AM to 2pm, wherein nearly 200 saplings of perennial plants were planted. Before, the plantation drive took place, the area was cleaned by de-weeding and the weeds were disposed by SMC.
The occasion gave opportunity for people of different ages & backgrounds irrespective of their caste, creed, colour, sex & religion to work together.
The people of the locality were very happy about the drive and gave many innovative ideas which can bring peace & harmony in the Valley & also improve the environment.
In the last, the programme ended with vote of thanks to the NGOs, local people and the Army for supporting the cause and making this event a grand success
