IGP Kashmir Reviews Security Of Srinagar Airport, Measures To Counter Possibility Of Drone Attacks

Srinagar, June 27: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar (IPS), on Sunday took an urgent security review meeting of Srinagar Airport, its funnel area and measures to counter possibility of any drone attacks.

The meeting comes in the backdrop of explosions in technical area of high-security Air Force Station Jammu where police is suspecting the use of drones with payload to carry out the blasts.

Official sources told that the top police officer of the Kashmir valley held the urgent meeting with officers of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), NSG, Airforce, CRPF, BSF , CISF, Director Airport besides DIG Central Kashmir Range and SSP Budgam.

They the IGP reviewed security of airport, its funnel area and “possibility of drone attack and counter measures.”

There were two blasts at the Air Force Station Jammu at 1.37 a.m. and at 1.42 a.m. overnight. Reportedly two persons suffered minor injuries in the blast which were heard by locals from a distance of two kilometers.

According to the DGP Dilbagh Singh the drones are suspected to be used in both the blasts at the Air Force Station Jammu.
